Counselling
We have two counselling rooms at our main hub, which we have named Bloom Room and Belong Room. Our counsellors also use their own counselling rooms in their homes to support clients from the hub.
Depending on which therapist you work with will decide where your therapy takes place and which room you use. All of the rooms are set up to be a safe, calm space for you to get the most out of your therapy.
Counselling isn't about sitting in a room while someone tells you what you should do.
It's a collaborative process. Your counsellor won't judge you, tell you how to live your life or expect you to have all the answers. Instead, they will listen carefully, ask questions, help you explore what's going on and support you to develop a better understanding of yourself.
You might talk about something that has happened recently, something from your past, your relationships, worries or anxieties, difficult emotions, confidence and self-esteem, or simply a feeling that you're stuck and don't know how to move forward.
Sometimes talking is enough to help things feel clearer. At other times, your counsellor may introduce strategies, techniques or therapeutic activities to help you understand and manage what you're experiencing.
What can counselling help with?
People come to counselling for many different reasons. This might include:
Anxiety, stress and feeling overwhelmed
Low mood and depression
Confidence and self-esteem
Relationship difficulties
Family difficulties
Bereavement and loss
Life changes and transitions
Trauma and difficult experiences
Anger and emotional regulation
Work-related stress and burnout
Feeling stuck or lost
Understanding patterns in your thoughts, feelings and behaviour
Difficulties adjusting to change
Simply wanting to understand yourself better
You don't have to be at a crisis point to benefit from counselling. Sometimes counselling is about getting support when life feels difficult; sometimes it's about understanding yourself better and creating positive changes before things become overwhelming.
Who can I work with?
You can head to the team pages to look at who is suitable for you to work with. Some of our team only work with certain clients, such as some of our team only work with adults, and some only work with children. You may also have a preference to whether you have a male or female counsellor, or want someone of a particular age or with a specific experience. These pages help you choose who might be the right match. our team also have slight variations in how much they charge, so this may be another factor that you want to conisder.
You may wish to access our reduced-cost service at £25 a session. This is with our trainee counsellor and, therefore, has to be that specific person. You can contact us to see if this is a suitable option for you.
What can I expect from my counsellor?
Your counsellor will provide a safe, accepting and confidential space where you can be yourself.
They won't judge you or make assumptions about who you are. They will work with you as an individual, because there isn't one approach to counselling that works for everyone.
At Be You Wellbeing Hub, we believe that counselling isn't about changing who you are. It's about having the space to understand yourself, feel heard and supported, and discover what you need to feel more like yourself again.
You don't have to have all the answers before you start. You just need to take the first step.
