Hello, my name is Sophie.
I’m a trauma-informed coach.
Coaching:
So often we can reach a point in life where we feel stuck or lost, coaching is for you if you’re ready to take action to move yourself out of that place. Together we work to figure out what your next steps might be and overcome any challenges that might be getting in your way. A lot of the time we think we should be able to do this all on our own when that’s just not true. Coaches are often described as “thinking” partners, there to help you discover the best solutions for yourself.
With my diploma is in personal performance coaching, certificate in trauma-informed coaching as well as further training in neuroscience, non-violent communication and DISC profiling, I bring a real blend of expertise to my coaching clients. Through this I can completely personalise your sessions to help support the transformation you are seeking.
As a coach I’m not here to tell you what to do, I might offer tools, exercises or useful information but I’m here to help you figure out your own path. After all, how often do we follow the advice other people give us? Figuring out what works for you and putting it into action with support is far more effective for long term change.
I offer online sessions or in person options local to Chudleigh – these can be in a therapy room or we can do a “walk and talk” session, I recognise some people find it easier to share while walking side by side.
Personal Info:
I live in Chudleigh with my husband and dog, Hiccup. I try my best to spend as much time enjoying all the wonderful things Devon has to offer, exploring Dartmoor or swimming in the rivers and sea.
Prior to becoming a coach, I spent most of my career as an equine vet, driving around the country caring for horses, ponies and donkeys. Whilst I loved many aspects of my work as a vet, I started to recognise it was supporting the humans, both clients and colleagues, that became my real passion. Several significant life events than acted as a catalyst to shift my direction towards coaching.
Whilst doing my coaching diploma I also worked for the vet school at Surrey University and became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. Through this I gained valuable insight into how adults learn.
Other Work:
I volunteer as a member of the British Equine Veterinary Association’s council and support their development with wellbeing, leadership and EDI. This includes helping them develop and run their group coaching programme.
I’m a course facilitator for Breast Cancer Now, running their Moving Forward courses for people who have been through primary breast cancer treatment.
I’ve developed and run the first group coaching programme for the British Veterinary Chronic Illness Support CIC, supporting members of the veterinary profession to navigate the challenges posed by chronic illness whether physical or mental including neurodivergence.
